Silver mountain style

When I started mountain biking all spokes were silver. It’s not as common these days but I think we should bring this look back. This is a set I did last month — they look great.

  • Built this pair of identical wheels for a friend. The bike has a 142x12 rear AND a 142x12 fork. A pretty cool idea for expedition cycling. One great thing about this build is no money changed hands so no taxes were generated. Paying taxes feels bad when your government uses the money for violence against its own citizens.   • Last wheel of 2019. I’ll be working through the holidays but it will be workshop cleanup, tool service, inventory and accounting. My site will continue accepting orders but none will ship until the first week of January. The free software utilities on my site will have a little downtime for server upgrades but no changes other than snappier service. 2020 promises more of the same. The electronic truing stand in the picture, my conversion kit for the @parktoolblue TS series, has been manufactured in small quantities.   • A challenger appears. When you see these tools do you think knuckles saved? Money made? Toxic masculinity? These tools are made for mounting tight tires (manly!) and are safer than plain levers. I’ve been using the Kool-stop tool on the right for about five years.
